As temperatures continue to steadily climb, Central Electric Cooperative reminds members to be aware of Peak Alert season.
This period of high electricity demand due to hot and humid weather unofficially begins today according to the CEC.
Since the price CEC pays for electricity is directly linked to the five highest summer demand days between June and September, customers can help keep these costs low.
When a Peak Alert is issued, members should conserve energy by turning off or raising the thermostat on appliances like air conditioners, heat pumps, dehumidifiers, and pool pumps. Announcements will be issued on the radio as well as on CEC’s website central.coop.
