City Council is considering entering into an agreement with a group interested in bringing an Italian Festival to downtown Butler.
President of the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau Jack Cohen introduced the plan to city officials Tuesday, which would see the event over the Labor Day holiday weekend in 2017.
The group interested has a proven track record with festivals as they have put on a similar event in Bloomfield the past few years as well as organizing the Westmoreland County Air Show.
Although it might take a month or two to get a contract ironed out, Mayor Tom Donaldson said that council is “committed to making (a deal) happen.”
