As the weather continues to get nicer, more people are planning trips out on the water.
National Safe Boating Week begins this weekend, and the PA Fish and Boat Commission wants to remind people about the importance of flotation devices and other water safety rules.
An average of 700 people die in boating related accidents every year in the U.S. and nearly 80 percent of those people are not wearing a life jacket. Boats must have a life vest on board for each person and children 12 and younger must be wearing a vest while on any boat 20 feet or less.
