Pennsylvania American Water donated $4,500 Friday to the City of Butler’s 4th of July fireworks display.
“We’ve been in business here over 100 years and being able to provide fireworks is a positive for the quality of life here in Butler, just as is providing clean, dependable water,” Gary Lobaugh of Pennsylvania American Water said Friday outside the Butler City Building.
Mayor Tom Donaldson said $10,000 in additional donations is still needed for the city to put on the same type of fireworks show as last year.
“We’ll get there,” he said. “Without the generosity of Pennsylvania American Water and others, we simply wouldn’t be able to have a display because the city’s financial situation is dire.”
This year’s show is planned for immediately following the Butler BlueSox baseball game on Monday, July 4.
