The Pittsburgh Pirates took three of the four games in the series with the Atlanta Braves following a 8-2 victory last night at PNC Park. Gregory Polanco had a home run and triple to lead the Pirates. John Jaso added a triple among three hits. Jordy Mercer also had three hits. Jeff Locke won his second game of the season, allowing two runs over seven innings. He gave up six hits, while striking out six and walking two batters.
The Bucs host the Colorado Rockies for three games beginning tonight at 7:05pm. Gerrit Cole will start for the Pirates. The Pirates moved back to within 6-1/2 games of the Chicago Cubs, who have lost three of their past four games.
Starling Marte returned from paternity leave last night and the Pirates sent Allen Hanson back to Indianapolis. Marte had a hit and drove in two runs last night.
