No decision has been made yet in the Mars fracking case.
Both drilling opponents and shale gas leaseholders packed a Butler County courtroom Thursday as a judge heard arguments about whether to dismiss a case brought by the leaseholders, who claim drilling opponents have denied them the ability to make money from the mineral rights underneath their Middlesex properties.
Opponents of shale gas drilling and fracking say they are intimidated by gas leaseholders’ legal efforts to silence them and argue they have first amendment rights to participate in debate and criticism of important public issues.
There is no time frame on when the judge will make a decision.
