The city of Butler will offer free parking beginning this evening to help ease the pain of the Main Street paving project.
Beginning Wednesday at 5 p.m., all metered and garage parking will be free nightly until 2 a.m. throughout the entire project.
Mayor Tom Donaldson and Parking Director Jim Chiprean say they hope the move will help encourage people to still enjoy downtown restaurants and shops despite the temporary inconvenience of the road work.
PennDOT started paving Main Street Monday. Work will continue through the end of July.
