On Thursday, May 19, 2016, work will begin on Interstate 79 for a bridge preservation project in Worth Township, Butler County.
A barrier will be put in place to create a 10-foot width restriction on both I-79 North and South between Exit 99 (SR 422-New Castle) and Exit 105 (SR 108-Slippery Rock) to place barrier for the bridge preservation project on I-79 over Slippery Rock Creek.
Also, a long-term, single lane closure will be in place on I-79 North and South on the bridge over Slippery Rock Creek near Exit 105 beginning June 1.
Work on the Slippery Rock Creek Bridge includes bridge repairs, painting, and epoxy overlay.
This $1.6 million bridge preservation project is being constructed by MEKIS Construction Corporation and is expected to be completed before the end of September 2016.
