The Butler Area School Board is now considering if they will contract with an outside food service provider for the district next year.
Three different companies including Metz Culinary Management, The Nutrition Group, and Aramark presented their proposals and food samples at a public meeting Wednesday at the administration building.
Board members and district solicitor Tom King asked each company questions about their estimates of food and labor costs as well as anticipated profits and guaranteed income for the district. If the board decides to narrow their choice to one company they are interested in, the current food service union employees will be given the chance to meet or counter any proposal.
The board will make a decision on this issue at their meeting Monday (5/16) because the state must be informed by June if a change to the food service provider will be made.
