Some changes could be on the horizon for Cranberry Township’s Volunteer Fire Company.
A committee made up of residents and fire company members presented recommendations to township supervisors at a meeting last week.
Recommended actions include hiring a full-time chief executive to manage department operations, bench-marking response standards, creating a long-range capital spending plan and reviewing membership requirements.
The committee also advised that Cranberry Township revisit its agreement with the firefighters, which was last updated in 1999.
The tax-supported company responds to over 600 calls per year and will remain a volunteer organization.
