The Butler Area School Board could vote Monday on a budget for next school year that includes a 3-mil tax increase.
Even with the property tax increase, the proposed $100 million budget for the 2016-17 year is still about $2.8 million short, according to Director of Business Services Deborah Brandstetter. A 3-mil tax hike means the average county property owner would pay about $53 more than last year.
The board is still looking at several ways to fill that gap- including increasing student activity and parking fees. The district’s finance committee will meet at 6 p.m. before tonight’s 7:30 p.m. regular board meeting.
The district is required to pass a budget by June 30.
