The State Police in Butler are investigating after a Renfrew man was injured when his pickup was intentionally set on fire Friday night.
Authorities say that at approximately 7pm, a 2015 GMC Sierra was parked at the intersection of Stucky Road and Creek Road in Forward Township when at least one unknown person set fire to the vehicle. It is unclear how the fire started, but police say that an older vehicle, described as a red or orange Jeep Cherokee, was spotted near the scene before the fire began.
Officials say that the owner, 24-year-old Zachary Older, had been hiking near the scene before returning to the pickup, where he suffered minor burns. Older also faces a count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after unknown drug paraphernalia was found in the remains of his truck.
Authorities say that the truck, valued at $35,000, is a total loss.
If you have any information about this case, you are asked to call the Fire Marshal Unit of the Butler State Police.
