The Pittsburgh Pirates were once again no match for the Chicago Cubs and pitcher Jake Arrieta last night at PNC Park. The Bucs fell 7-1, managing just three hits in the game. Arrieta improved his record to 6-0 this season, allowing just two of the hits over seven innings. Pirate starter Jon Niese allowed six earned runs on nine hits over five innings. Sean Rodriguez had two of the Pirates three hits.
The Bucs will try to avoid being swept by the Cubs this afternoon beginning at 12:35pm. Juan Nicasio will start for the Pirates. Jon Lester for Chicago. The Pirates are off tomorrow and begin a series Friday in St. Louis.
