The Butler Area School Board will hold a special meeting Monday to discuss finances and the budget.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and take place at the district’s administration building.
Even with income from selling two schools, a 3-mil tax increase, and possible cuts to non-essential programs, district administrators still expect a $3.5 million deficit for 2016-17. Officials say this is due to increasing pension obligations and smaller than necessary tax increases in previous years.
The school board is expected to vote on a proposed budget at their regular meeting later this month before finalizing the budget in June.
