The Pittsburgh Penguins host the Washington Capitals in game three of their Eastern Conference semi-final series tonight at the Consol Energy Center. Face-off is just after 8pm. Hear the game on WISR 680am beginning at 7:30pm. The Pens defeated the Caps 2-1 Saturday night. Eric Fehr and Carl Hagelin each scored for the Penguins.
The Pens will be without defenseman Olli Maata, who suffered a head injury in Game two when he was hit by Washington defenseman Brooks Orpik. Orpik, a former Penguins players, was suspended by the NHL Sunday for three games as a result of the hit.
Now retired Penguin Pascal Dupuis has been named a finalist for the Masterson Trophy, which is awarded to recognize “perserverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.” Dupuis retired during the season due to a blood clotting issue.
In the NHL Sunday: St. Louis defeated Dallas 4-3 in overtime to even their series 1-1. San Jose defeated Nashville 3-2 to take a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference Series.
