Due to the Cunningham Street Bridge replacement and other city road projects, Butler Transit Authority has been experiencing delays for several routes.
Specifically, there have been delays to Routes 1, 4 and 5.
To help ease the pain, Director John Paul is reminding passengers to utilize technology to find out the exact location and estimated times the buses will be at stops.
“For the public’s convenience, we have mobile apps, a texting service and they can visit our website to help track buses,” Paul said.
Details:
www.butlertranist.com – Live Route Maps track real-time vehicle locations for all routes as well as scheduled and estimated departure times for every stop. Passengers can also register for rider alerts, message alerts and more.
iPhone and Android Apps – Mobile apps are available for free at the AppStore and GooglePlay.
Text Information – Passengers can also text their bus stop number to find out the bus’ status. Simply text the letters BU and the stop number to 321123 to receive bus stop information. For example, someone wanting to know the departure times from the downtown terminal would text 321123 as the recipient. The stop number for the downtown terminal is 2. In the message line type BU2 and all of the routes departing from the downtown terminal will be displayed. All of BTA’s bus stop numbers can be found on BTA’s website under the Live Route Maps tab.
The text system works by the passengers texting their bus stop number to the letters ‘BU.’ All bus stop numbers can be found on the transit authority’s website.
“Hopefully people can use this to help ease the pain of construction system,” Paul said.
The Cunningham Street Bridge project isn’t slated to wrap up until October.
