Andrew McCutchen returned from a night off and hit three home runs to help lead the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 9-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies last night. The Bucs hit five home runs in the game. McCutchen had five RBI’s in the game and joins Willie Stargell, Roberto Clemente and Ralph Kiner as the only Pirates with multiple three-home run games. Pirate starter Gerrit Cole evened his record at 2-2, allowing four runs over six innings.
The Pirates are now 12-9 overall and in second place in the Central Division, 3-1/2 games behind first-place Chicago.
The Bucs and Rockies meet again tonight at 8:40pm. Jon Niese will start for the Pirates. Hear the game at 8:15pm on WISR 680am.
