The Pullman Park Homeplate Legacy Award has a new member.
The Butler City Parks, Recreation Grounds & Facilities Authority re-hung the plaque near the concession stand of Kelly Automotive Park with a new inscription for John Pinder Jr.
Pinder played on the field before going on to serve in World War II and dying on Omaha Beach at the Invasion of Normandy. Pinder was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
The authority presents the Legacy Award to those who have demonstrated unfailing dedication to the operation, preservation and history of Pullman Park. Authority member Don Paul donated the engraving work done on the plaque.
