The Slippery Rock University Football team played to a 34-34 tie in their first Green-White Spring Game on Friday under new head Shawn Lutz.
All three SRU quarterbacks (Redshirt Senior Zack Newsock, Senior transfer Don King III, and Redshirt Freshman Ryan Williams) each had a touchdown pass. Runningbacks Dominic Dingle (112 yards on 24 carries) and Isiah Neely (73 yards on 15 carries) led the ground attack. All-American runningback Shamar Greene did not participate in the game.
Defensively, Slippery Rock was led by Redshirt Freshman Roman Denson who led the team with seven tackles, and Redshirt Junior and All-American Defensive End Marcus Martin, who had six total tackles, four for a loss, and two and a half sacks.
After Friday’s game, The Rock retired former Seneca Valley and SRU offensive lineman Brandon Fusco’s number 74. Fusco currently is a starting guard for the Minnesota Vikings, and has been a starter or role player for the team for the last five years.
