The Butler County Airport has been renamed the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport.
Airport Manager Ike Kelly says the change more accurately reflects the scope of the activities at the airport and the increased traffic.
The Butler County Airport Authority board approved the change last week but Kelly says it will take at least 60 days to become official with the Federal Aviation Administration.
The new name is similar to the airport’s original name. When the facility opened in 1929, it was called The Pittsburgh-Butler Airport.
