A shed was destroyed by a Wednesday fire near Freeport.
The blaze started about 1:30 p.m. on Route 356 near the Freeport Bridge, just over the Butler County line in Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County. As of now it is not known as to how the fire started, but it was a threat to nearby property due to the proximity of the location.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and managed to put out the fire. Thanks to their efforts they were able to keep the flames from a nearby house, which officials say was about 30 feet from the burning shed. The fire did reportedly spread to nearby brush and burned about four acres.
No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is unknown. The owner of the property is looking to get a new garden shed in the near future to replace the one burnt down.
