The San Diego Padres defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-2 last night. Pirate starter Jeff Locke allowed all eight earned runs. Locke gave up 11 hits and walked four in just three innings. His record fell to 0-2 and his ERA climbed to 7.24 after three starts. The Pirates had eight hits, and left 11 men on base. Jordy Mercer was moved to the lead-off spot in the batting order, and had three hits.
The Bucs have fallen to 7-8 overall. The play in San Diego again tonight. First pitch is 9:10pm. Gerrit Cole will start for the Pirates.
