Gas prices in the area are up nine cents.
According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve is $2.28 a gallon.
In Butler County, the average price is a cent higher at $2.29.
AAA says record-high fuel demand, declining refinery production and rising oil costs have pushed prices up. Despite this hike, industry experts say drivers in most areas of the country are poised to pay the cheapest summertime gas prices in 12 years.
