The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 9-3 Sunday at PNC Park and took two of three games in their series. Gregory Polanco and Matt Joyce had three hits each. Sean Rodriguez and Andrew McCutchen each hit home runs. The Bucs pounded 17 hits. (but still left 14 on base). Starting pitcher Juan Nicasio allowed three earned runs over six innings for his second win. He allowed five hits, walked two and struck out six.
The Pirates are off today and visit San Diego to begin a 10-game road trip Tuesday.
Third baseman Jung Ho Kang will begin a rehabilitation assignment today at Triple-A Indianapolis. It is the final step in his recovery from leg injuries suffered last fall.
