The Detroit Tigers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-3 Wednesday at PNC Park. Ryan Vogelsong starter in place of Francisco Liriano last night, and allowed one run on five hits over five innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out five. The Pirates bullpen failed to protect a 2-1 lead, with Arquimedes Caminero allowing a grand slam home run in the sixth inning. The Bucs only had four hits in the game, David Freese had two of those.
The two teams meet again today at 12:35pm. Gerrit Cole will start for the Pirates.
The Pirates designated Michael Morse for assignment Wednesday. Third baseman Jung Ho Kang has been cleared to play with no restrictions in games. He could be back with the Pirates within two weeks.
