Two local state senators are advancing bills to protect energy related jobs within the state.
Republican Scott Hutchinson introduced Senate Bill 1011 which would spare conventional oil and gas well operators from new regulations designed for Marcellus Shale gas extractors.
“Unfortunately there are those in the rule-making process that don’t seem to comprehend that there is a vast difference between the two industries.”
Republican Don White also represents part of Butler County and his Bill 1195 deals with extending the amount of time the state has to become compliant with the new federal Clean Power Plan.
“It’s imperative that we tackle this issue with the care and thoroughness necessary to protect the jobs and livelihoods of thousands of coal and electric generation workers across this state.”
After gaining approval from the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, both bills will move on to the full senate for consideration.
