The Mars Area School District is borrowing money to finance several large projects.
The Mars School Board voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve a bond issue not to exceed $10 million.
The money will be used to pay for expansion currently going on at the district’s administrative offices as well as renovations to the middle school, paving projects, and the construction of athletic fields.
According to Superintendent Dr. Wesley Shipley, although the district does not have the funds in savings to cover the needed projects, repayment of the bond is within their budget. Following the approval, the district’s bond council expects the process of pricing the bonds to continue for at least three weeks before the bonds are sold.
