Police say a drunk driver was speeding early Saturday when he crashed his car, injuring himself and his two passengers.
The single-vehicle crash happened 12:30 a.m. Saturday on Fairground Hill Road between Campus Lane and Whitestown Road.
According to Butler Township Police, Eric Defelice, 20, of Butler was driving a 1998 Toyota Avalon ‘extremely fast’ when he lost control, forcing the car into the wooded ravine. The car then caught fire shortly after the crash.
The vehicle’s back passenger- Steven Dunmire, 22, of Butler- was ejected and suffered several injuries.
The front passenger- Mia Kopps, 20, of Butler- also suffered numerous injuries.
Both passengers and Defelice were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. Defelice was arrested for DUI. Charges are pending blood test results.
