The Pittsburgh Pirates host the St. Louis Cardinals tonight at PNC Park. First pitch is 7:05pm. Jon Niese will make his debut as a Pirate. He was acquired from the New York Mets for second baseman Neil Walker during the off-season. The Cardinals will send Michael Wacha to the hill.
The Pirates have signed outfielder Gregory Polanco to an new long-term contract that will keep him in Pittsburgh through the 2023 baseball season. The deal keeps a very talented outfield together in Pittsburgh for a minimum of the next two seasons, with Andrew McCutchen signed through 2018. Starling Marte is signed through 2020.
