Knoch junior Jordan Geist set a Pennsylvania school record in the shot put Saturday at the Knoch relays. In his first outdoor meet of the season, Geist had a throw of 71-feet 9-1/4 inches. It broke a record of 70-feet 1-3/4 inches set back in 1972. Geist set the indoor state record back in January.
It was the day of many firsts as the Butler Girls Track & Field team won the Knoch Relays Saturday at Knoch Stadium. Butler scored 124 pts while runner-up Seneca Valley had 72.
The girl’s won 10 of the 17 events. Leading the way with standout performances in the field events were sophomore Jena Reinheimer with a personal best throw in the discus of 115’10 and junior Taylor Weaver with a personal best in the pole vault at 10’6″. On the track, Emily Horstman, Alexis Leech, Savannah Miller, Cienna Tonini and Shana Hoy were all part of 3 first place finishing relay teams.
