The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Nashville Predators 5-2 last night at the Consol Energy Center. Phil Kessel scored twice in the game to lead the Pens. Kris Letang and Patrick Hornqvist scored power play goals in the game. The Penguins went 2-of-4 on the power play last night. The victory was the Pens fourth in a row, and moves the team to within a win or a Detroit loss from clinching a playoff spot.
The Pens have won 10 of their past 11 games, and have the second-highest point total in the Eastern Conference. The Pens also moved into second place in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference, one point in front of the New York Rangers who lost 4-3 to Carolina. The New York Islanders remain three points behind the Pens following a 4-3 win over Columbus. The Pens visit the Islanders Saturday at 1pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 12:30pm.
