The Pittsburgh Pirates have decided Juan Nicasio will be their fifth starter in the rotation. Nicasio has not allowed a run during the preseason in 15 innings of work. The move will send Ryan Vogelsong to the bullpen.
Wednesday, the Pirates and Boston Red Sox tied 4-4. Andrew McCutchen hit his sixth home run of the spring. Cutch was 3-for-4 with two RBI’s and two runs scored. Pirate starter Jon Niese allowed two runs, both in the first inning, before completing four innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out five. The Bucs visit Port Charlotte today to face the Tampa Bay Rays for their final pre-season game in Florida.
