The Pittsburgh Penguins overcame a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 5-4 in a shoot-out at the Consol Energy Center last night. Four different Penguins scored a goal in the second period. Kris Letang and Phil Kessel scored in the shoot-out.
The Penguins have now won nine of their past 10 games. They now have the third most points in the Eastern Conference.
The Pens are now one point behind the second place New York Rangers in the Metropolitan Division. The New York Islanders also won via a shoot-out last night and remain three points behind the Pens. The Islanders defeated Carolina 2-1. The Pens host Nashville Thursday.
The Penguins have signed Ethan Prow a collegiate free agent from St. Cloud State. Prow was the highest scoring defenseman in Division I this year, with 38 points in 37 games. He scored eight goals. Prow will be assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the remainder of the season on an amateur tryout agreement. He will receive a two-year, entry level contract next season.
