Butler County Community College is closing their main campus effective immediately for Tuesday evening and all day Wednesday.
In a statement on BC3’s website, the college says the closure is necessary due to “an isolated but confirmed case of MRSA in the Field House.” Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus is a skin infection caused by bacteria.
BC3 has contacted the Center for Disease Control and the PA Department of Health and are taking actions to disinfect the area to stop any potential spreading of the infection.
This is not a required procedure but the college is closing their campus in order to be proactive about future potential transmission. All other BC3 campuses will remain open.
