Butler City Council has expressed their appreciation for everyone who came together and assisted during the fire at the historic Worsley’s building downtown.
“On behalf of all of council and certainly our fire department and our community, I would like to express sincere gratitude for assistance,” Councilwoman Kathy Kline said during Thursday’s Butler City Council meeting.
Kline spent several minutes running down a long list of emergency responders outside the city who helped including those from Butler Township, East Butler, Herman, Penn Township, Unionville, Saxonburg, Chicora and the Butler VA.
Area businesses and individuals also pitched in that day in order to allow people to be as safe and as comfortable as possible.
“It truly was a community coming together,” Kline said. “I have never been so proud to live in the city and to live in Butler County and to have so many people responding to such a tragedy.”
After the March 11 fire, the Worsley’s building was condemned which means it is not safe for human habitation. The owners of the building have not yet decided whether to tear it down or rehabilitate it.
