The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-5 in spring training baseball Wednesday. Pirate starter Jeff Locke allowed three runs on six hits over five innings of work. Pirate outfielders Andrew McCutchen, Starling Marte and Gregory Polanco each hit a home run. It was McCutchen’s fifth home run of the preseason.

Pirate starting pitcher Gerrit Cole pitched four innings in a simulated game. One of the batters was Pirate third baseman Jung Ho Kang, who is easing his way back into playing time from a serious leg injury suffered last September. Kang is about a month away from returning to full play with the team.
