The Pittsburgh Penguins are idle until Thursday when they host the New Jersey Devils at the Consol Energy Center. Two teams the Pens are battling for position in the Metropolitan Division play tonight. The New York Rangers host the Boston Bruins and the New York Islanders host the Ottawa Senators. The Pens trail the Rangers by two points for second place in the division. The Islanders are three points behind the Penguins, who have won six games in a row.
Last night, Philadelphia lost a 3-2 shoot-out to Columbus. The Flyers are five points behind the Pens and tied for the final Eastern Conference Wild Card spot with Detroit. The Red Wings lost to Tampa Bay 6-3 last night.
The Pens visit Detroit Saturday afternoon, then play in New York against the Rangers Sunday night.
Penguins defenseman Brian Dumoulin skated yesterday at the practice facility in Cranberry Township. He was injured during Sunday’s win over Washington and is considered day-to-day. Defenseman Ben Lovejoy practiced with the team Tuesday and is close to returning from injury as well.
