Gas prices in the area jumped nine cents in the past week, crossing over the $2 per gallon mark, according to AAA.
The average price in Western Pennsylvania for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve is now $2.08, up from $1.99 last week.
In Butler, the average price is even higher at $2.09.
AAA says prices have steadily climbed over the past two weeks…leaving many drivers paying over $2/gallon for the first time this year. AAA sites seasonal increases in fuel demand and reduced production as some refineries conduct maintenance as the primary reasons.
