Fire units around the Butler County area have been busy with several brush fires due to dry and windy conditions Friday afternoon.
Calls have come in for fires in Center, Cranberry, Donegal, and Muddycreek Townships between 1:30 and 4 p.m.
Residents should be extra cautious when burning paper or garbage. Strong winds and low humidity can easily help a fire spread to nearby brush, trees or a structure.
The brush fire danger heightens in spring because during the winter months, grass and leaves dry out.
