The Butler veteran community is invited to leave their mark on the new Center Township Veterans Affairs facility currently under construction.
Before the final steel beam is erected in April, veterans and their families will be able to sign the beam.
Starting Wednesday, March 23, the beam will be displayed at VA Butler Healthcare on New Castle Road in Butler Township.
After the beam is signed, it will be placed in the new Center Township structure during a ceremony on April 6. The ceremony is by invitation-only because it will be performed at an active construction site.
Construction at the new facility is moving along smoothly, according to Chief of Facility Management Cherie Hawryliak.
“We continue to be on schedule and anticipate a completion date of construction in July 2017,” she said. “Then the VA Butler will need some time to activate the building, orient staff. We’re looking at actually seeing patients in the fall.”
