A Butler County Community College playground has received national recognition.
The Children’s Creative Learning Center was recently certified as a Nature Explore Classroom by Dimensions Educational Research Foundation and the Arbor Day Foundation. The Center’s Green Garden Park outdoor nature classroom opened last fall.
The park features a gardening area, a slide built into a hillside, a space for music with stationary instruments, and an area to work with natural materials like dirt, water, and sand.
The Nature Explore program is a nation-wide effort to reconnect kids with nature through outdoor learning opportunities. Children who are exposed to these kinds of play areas enhance concentration, develop creativity, and relieve stress.
