The Pennsylvania Game Commission has released the results from the deer season that closed in January.
Nearly 316,000 deer were harvested state-wide in 2015-16 which is an increase of four percent over last year.
Most of Butler County as well as portions of neighboring Armstrong and Clarion Counties are in Wildlife Management Unit 2D. Hunters in 2D took in the most deer in the state with a total harvest of nearly 28,000 antlered and antlerless.
A combination of antler restrictions and fewer antlerless licenses being available led to the highest percentage of adult bucks harvested in decades. More information can be found at pgc.state.pa.us.
