The Butler Area School Board has approved the sale of the former Meridian Elementary property.
In a unanimous vote Monday night, the board agreed to sell the facility to Michael Wright, owner of 70E Solutions, for about $425,000. The deal is contingent upon Butler Township approving the zoning for the new use but that process is expected to begin soon.
Motions to sell two other buildings to perspective buyers failed as several board members would like to first analyze data gathered by the After Action Review Committee. The Meridian sale was approved because no one could foresee a case in which that former school would be needed.
70E Solutions tests electrical protection equipment. The next step is for a date to be set for a court hearing during which a judge will have the final say about who the property is sold to.
A decision on pending offers made for the former Broad Street and Oakland Schools is expected to be made once results from a district survey have been analyzed in April. The district also reaffirmed its desire to sell the former Clearfield School but has not yet received any offers.
