Crews worked overnight to get power back on for many West Penn Power customers in Butler Township after an outage Thursday night.
Just before 9 p.m., some township residents heard a loud pop before things went dark. According to West Penn, about 1,500 customers were initially without service.
Shortly after the power went out, firefighters were dispatched to several pole and structure fires in the township including on Acre Avenue, Whitestown Road, Farmington Drive, Havenhill Drive, Evans City Road and Villa Drive.
Power for the majority of township customers came back on about 12:30 a.m. Lingering delays were restored about 5:30 a.m.
No word yet on what caused the outages.
