PIAA Basketball:
Quad-A Boys: Taylor Allderdice eliminated Pine-Richland 75-60. North Hills fell to Carlisle 74-69 in overtime. Allderdice and Carlisle meet in the quarterfinals Saturday.
Single-A Girls: Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic defeated Keystone 61-36. The Lady Trojans will meet Bishop Carroll Saturday.
The Mars boys Triple-A quarterfinal game with Highlands Friday night has been scheduled to be played at Penn Hills high school at 7:30pm.
The North Allegheny – Norwin girls will be the 6pm game.
The Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic boys will meet Kennedy Catholic Friday in the Single-A quarterfinals at Slippery Rock University. Tip-off is 6pm.
Butler Varsity head hockey coach Patrick Hammonds has stepped down from the program. Hammonds has led the Butler team since the 2014-15 season. The Golden Tornado went 12-7-1 this season and made their fourth consecutive playoff appearance.
