The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New Jersey Devils 6-1 Sunday evening. Evgeni Malkin scored twice. Center Nick Bonino also scored for the first time in 31 games. Forward Carl Hagelin did not play Sunday after being involved in a collision during Saturday’s loss to Calgary.
The Pens visit the New York Islanders tomorrow night. They have now taken over the first Eastern Conference Wild Card, and trail the Islanders by three points for third place in the Metropolitan Division. The Islanders defeated the New York Rangers 6-4 Sunday.
The Pens fell to one of the worst teams in the NHL Saturday, with a 4-2 loss against Calgary at home.
