A local bike and walking trail will be extended into Westmoreland County thanks to federal grant money.
Over $300,000 will be used to build a mile and a half of trail to connect the Tredway Trail in Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County to the Freeport Bridge and the Butler Freeport Community Trail.
The money comes from the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission’s Transportation Alternatives Program which also awarded $300,000 for maintenance on the Butler Freeport Trail.
The Tredway Trail is currently 2 miles long and the extension will be completed this year.
