Local residents still have time to get their taxes done for free through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, or VITA.
VITA program manager Jean Bowen says the program has been around for a couple of years now and has grown significantly. There are four VITA offices in the area: Butler City, Slippery Rock, Cranberry Twp and West Kittanning.
The filing deadline for IRS Tax Returns isn’t until Monday April 18 due to the IRS being closed on Emancipation Day on April 15, 2016. Appointments are filling up fast so call 211 to make an appointment.
