A Butler County man is charged with movie pirating.
Brian Ridley, 38, was indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday. Prosecutors allege Ridley recorded the audio of the romantic comedy “Sex Tape” (starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel) while at Dependable Drive In back in July 2014.
Ridley is also accused of participating in a movie pirating conspiracy by videotaping several newly released movies (between August 2011 and July 2014) at indoor theaters and then recording the soundtracks from drive-in audio broadcasts. The recordings would then allegedly be synced together and put online.
