Butler Township is not interested in joining with Center Township on a Tax Increment Financing partnership.
Township solicitor Larry Lutz read a prepared statement at Monday night’s Commissioners meeting concerning the history of negotiations between the municipalities and the developer of the new VA facility.
The new building on Duffy Road is a privately funded project that the government will then lease from Cambridge Healthcare Solutions. Center Township believes that additional development will be attracted to surrounding areas if a TIF is used to improve infrastructure with money collected from taxes.
Butler Township’s statement read that they will not enter into any agreement that does not have a direct benefit for the residents of Butler Township.
